ปีที่แล้วไปนำเสนอเรื่องการตามรอยลูกปัด แล้วปีนี้เขาขอให้ไปอีก จะทำเรื่องเพลงพื้นบ้านที่ว่าด้วยวีรชนของชาติ เพราะของเขาเพิ่งได้มรดกความทรงจำโลก ผมก็ไม่รู็จะเอาเรื่องอะไรดีที่เป็นไทไทแล้วก็แถมพุทธด้วย รามเกียรติ์ก็ออกแขกแถมไปทางพราหมณ์ฮินดู สู้สังข์สินไชของไท-ลาวเราไม่ได้ พื้นถิ่นแท้ ๆ แถมโยงเป็นชาดกนอกนิบาตด้วย สนุกกว่านั้น คือมีการนำมาทำเป็น "อะไร ๆ" สารพัด ทั้ง ฮูปแต้ม หนังบักตื้อ หมอลำ แถมละครดึกดำบรรพ์ก็มี เตรียมว่าจะเอาไปเปิดให้ยังเตอร์กของแท้เขาได้ดูแล้วม่วนชื่นกันครับ

Sankh SinChai 
: Another Epic of SEA in The World Culture

Among plenty of Epics in the World Culture as well as the Gorogly Epos of Turkmenistan, along with the Ramayana or the Ramakien which is one of the most popular Indian epics with its several local variants throughout South and Southeast Asia. Sank SinChai is regarded as one of the very most popular among Thai-Lao and Mon-Khmer people. In 19th century C.E., King Rama II of the Kingdom of Thailand recomposed it while the Lao PDR recently promote as the National Epic Hero.

The earliest written version appears to date from the 15th century C.E. in poetic version originally composed in Vientiane while plenty more was illustrated on the exterior walls of several Ordination Halls in Buddhist Temple in Northeastern Thailand. It was also reenacted in the region’s shadow puppet theatre called ‘nang pramothai’, ‘mor lam’ or northeastern Thai style singing, “lakorn Duek Dam Ban’ or a kind of central Thai classical dancing as well as in Dhamma teaching.

The Sankh SinChai story involves the abduction of one beautiful and nice lady, Nang Chantha, by a giant, Kumphan, who has fallen in love with her. Followed by several extraordinary events and characters whose heroic actions and sexual prowess were added by not only magic powers but goodness and bravery among those worldly greed, sin and dangerous. At the end, Sankh SinChai and his companions won with goodness and bravery, They returned to the throne for the peace, pleasure and prosperity of the country.

The Sankh SinChai is said to be not only the epic, but the moral model included as part of a local collection of Jatakas along with the Buddhism canonical Jatakas, the previous life story of Lord Buddha as well as the Ramayana, the incarnation of Vishnu in Hinduism.
